This water rescue course is designed to provide rescuers with both a theoretical and practical knowledge of the basics of swiftwater rescue. The class includes classroom instruction and practical field exercise and scenarios. Students are trained in hazard recognition, equipment use, and basic shore and boat-based rescue techniques, as well as a wide variety of other skills. After completing this course, rescuers will also be able to be in the support role for technician level rescuers in higher risk technical water rescues. The course meets the NFPA 2500 Standard on Operations.

Operations level coursework and certification provides more comprehensive education than the awareness level and will equip rescuers with knowledge to identify and avoid hazards and apply basic rescue techniques in a supporting role during an active swifrwater rescue.
This course covers Self Rescue, Throwbags, Dynamics of moving water, risk and hazard identification, individual and team equipment and rescue roles.
This swiftwater course is ideal for individuals who may or will be working with in 10’ of the edge of a river or moving flood water.

Operations Level Swiftwater Course: This course is designed for individuals who may be involved in swiftwater rescue operations as part of their duties but are not primarily focused on entering the water to make a rescue. Ops level rescuers learn basic skills and techniques for safely operating in and around swiftwater environments, including hazard recognition, self-rescue, and basic rescue techniques. This course covers foundational knowledge and skills required to assist in swiftwater rescue scenarios under the supervision of a Technician Level rescuer.
Technician Level Swiftwater Course: This course is more comprehensive and is geared towards individuals who will be actively engaged in technical swiftwater rescue operations. Rescuers learn advanced rescue techniques, including advanced rope systems, boat operations, rope rescue techniques and complex scenario management. Technician Level courses delve deeper into the technical aspects of swiftwater rescue and are designed for individuals who will be leading or participating in swiftwater rescue operations as part of specialized rescue teams or agencies.

Swiftwater rescue training does require a certain level of physical fitness, as participants may need to swim, maneuver in swift currents, and perform rescue techniques on uneven terrain and in challenging conditions. However, our instructors can accommodate participants of varying fitness levels and abilities.

Swiftwater rescue training is beneficial for a wide range of individuals and groups, including fire departments, dive rescue teams, search and rescue teams, law enforcement agencies, and military units. Operations level courses can also be benificial to EMS crews, Utility works responding to floods, and other first resoponders.

Yes, we offer refresher courses for individuals and groups who have previously completed swiftwater rescue training and want to maintain their skills and certifications.
